What runs on your machine, and what doesn't

Orb Studio ships with no API keys and no account. Here is exactly which work happens locally, which work leaves for a provider you chose, and where the boundary sits.

Local

Rendering is local. Every avatar frame is drawn on your machine, and final MP4 encoding runs through ffmpeg on your machine — H.264 and AAC with faststart, at 720p, 1080p, 4K, square or vertical.

Transcription is local. Demo Studio's captions and the narration it turns into asset descriptions run through an on-device speech model with no key and no upload. Camera background segmentation — blur, brand colour, or a replacement image — is also fully on-device.

Your projects, your asset library and your knowledge packs are files in the app's data folder on your disk. There is no account, and no sign-up gate on any of it.

Sent to a provider you chose

Script writing, research and the vision agent that drives autonomous demos call an LLM. Voice changing and text-to-speech call a voice provider. Music generation calls a music provider. Those requests leave your machine, because that is where those models run.

The key distinction: Orb Studio ships with no API keys baked in. Every key is yours, entered once, and stored only in the app's local data folder — never sent anywhere except the provider you configured it for. If you would rather nothing left at all, Ollama runs a model on your own machine, needs no key, and sits last in the fallback chain.

Isolation between clients

If you run video for more than one client, the boundary that matters is between brands. A brand owns its entire world: its own API keys, asset library, knowledge base, posts, editor projects, recordings, brand kit and Demo Browser logins. Nothing leaks between them.

That is what makes agency use workable. You can bill each client on that client's own LLM key, and record client A while signed into client A's product, without client B ever inheriting that session. Only the output folder, ffmpeg and the transcription models are shared.

Orb Studio is a one-time purchase. Bring your own API keys, no account required.
